Hello Brian,
This story brings me back. I lived in a house on this street that sounds just like the one in your story. (Which, oddly, the address doesn't seem to exist anymore?) As a child, I would go on hiking/walking adventures from my back yard fairly often. One day, I walked about 1-2 miles back and right in to a bear still very much alive in his cage on wheels and being taken care off. Scary, incredible, and seems like something my imagination dreamed up. I wonder if we hadn't lived in the same home? Or were neightbors!

Tia,

Thanks for the read and the comments. We lived maybe two miles down Old Bath Road, after you turned left off Bath Road. The house was on the left if you're headed toward Bath, literally right next door to the parking lot of Simpson's Animal Park. I have a few old pictures from when the park was open if you're interested. If so, just shoot me an email to bswain2000@yahoo.com and I'll send them back to you.

Hello!

I love this story. I am the Chair of the Durham Historical Society and extremely interested as to where exactly this animal farm/zoo was on Old Bath Road in Brunswick? We had our own zoo in Durham as well.

Thank you!
